Thanks -- please call Speaker Adams' office - her office phone is mostly on voice mail, but you can leave a message. - we want her to hold a hearing of the Holden bill to ban horse-drawn carriages.
It goes on and on. The ban should have happened long ago. More people need to contact their Council Members and demand a ban, so the bill could pass, I made the call to Adrienne Adams, and I put her phone number up on a Westside blog, that was about the horse carriage ban.
Left yet another message for Speaker Adams to do her job and introduce this bill.
Does anyone know how Bambi is? I do not trust those people to do the right thing but with public scrutiny, maybe they will and send her to a sanctuary.
I don't know how she is. Since she spooked so badly, they would probably choose to get rid of her, since she would be inclined to do it again. But as you suggested, since they have had so much recent public scrutiny, they would probably not get rid of her right away. If they sent her to a sanctuary or farm, it would be one that they trust not to talk about the incident.
I was horrified to hear about another horse and carriage accident. I left a message on Adrienne Adams phone to have a hearing for Intro 967 immediately. This has gone on long enough!!!!
There should be major lawsuits filed against the City, carriage company, union, and Central Park Conservancy for negligence -- not only filed by the carriage passengers, whose injuries may be serious, but also by anyone who was at risk of being trampled, and also by the witnesses psychologically traumatized by this horrific event. Personal injury lawyers should be all over this one. And they should also reach out to all others similarly traumatized by witnessing the collapse and death of Ryder, Lady, and all the other horses who died as a result of the collective negligence of the interconnected parties. Let them all find themselves embroiled in costly litigation and paying out huge settlements. That would bring an end to this evil industry, once and for all.
I agree. It might be possible because the passengers have standing to sue. The names of the passengers have not been publicized, and for all we know, they might have just left the area. Some years ago, I filed a FOIL request to the NYC Comptroller's office for records of lawsuits against the city or carriage companies for related accidents. I got zero.
DENY THE USE OF HORSE DRAWN CARRIAGES, IMMEDIATELY!
IT PUTS THE HORSES; THE CARRIAGE DRIVER; THE RIDERS ON THE CARRIAGE AND
THE GENERAL PUBLIC, IN GRAVE DANGER.
AND USUALLY, THE HORSES PAY THE UTMOST COST, WITH THEIR LIVES.
IF PEOPLE WANT TO RIDE IN A CARRIAGE, RENT AN ELECTRIC, OR GAS VERSION!
WAKE UP TO HUMANE TREATMENT OF SENTIENT CREATURES, NOW!

I did also. It's easy because her phone is always on voicemail so you can prepare what you want to say. She needs to hear from the public.

I hope he survived. Heart wrenching this continues to be an issue.
